About this certification

You need a lot of SFDC certifications to be a Salesforce Certified Technical Architect. 

The candidate must have 3+ years of experience in an architect role including 2+ years of experience on the Lightning platform. Awareness of different programming languages like Java, C++, Python along with a variety of frameworks is also needed.

After passing the below exams, Salesforce will grant you the Certified System Architect certification automatically:

  1. Salesforce Certified Development Lifecycle and Deployment Designer
  2. Salesforce Certified Identity and Access Management Designer
  3. Salesforce Certified Integration Architecture Designer
  4. Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I


After passing the below exams, Salesforce will grant you the Certified Application Architect certification automatically:

  1. Salesforce Certified Data Architecture and Management Designer
  2. Salesforce Certified Sharing and Visibility Designer
  3. Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I
  4. Salesforce Certified App Builder


After getting the above 2 domain architect certifications, you are only one step away from the ultimate certification.

To be fully prepared for the final review board, knowledge of 2 optional certifications are recommended:

  1. Salesforce Certified Community Cloud Consultant
  2. Salesforce Certified Mobile Solutions Architecture Designer


By achieving the total 7+2 certifications, you will prepare yourself for the challenge from the review board and also acquire valuable knowledge to deal with your daily jobs along the way. 

Exam details

Salesforce Technical Architect Exam Format: The candidate will review and solve a hypothetical scenario and then present it to a panel of CTA judges. 

The presentation is followed by a question and answer session with the judges.

Time allotted to complete the exam:

  1. 3 hours for scenario review and solution preparation including a 15-minute break
  2. 45 minutes for scenario presentation
  3. 40 minutes for scenario Question and Answer session
